Flubaroo

Today I started thinking about how I might use Google Forms, and specifically. I want something to use as an opener, and or closing activity in class, where students can solve a problem and get immediate feedback, also allowing me to analyze difficulties they are having. I just installed the flubaroo script. It's really easy, just click on your form, and go to insert script. Type in Flubaroo and you're done. Now I've got to mess around with it a little bit, and see how best to use it.

Framing

I know a little bit about framing, essentially running another site through my google site. I've experienced with it using Edmodo and my Khan academy site. Khan academy has a "knowledge map" that is so dense it is almost impenetrable. My students often don't know which objectives they should be working on. So through edmodo.com, I can make folders of the objectives I want them to be working with, and then they can work on their Khan objectives within the template of the Edmodo site. That's framing right? I get the best of both worlds, the functionality of khan, and the organization of Edmodo.

Today in tech group we're going to talk more about framing, specifically using iframe. I'm curious about using ipads in my classroom, especially the idea of students doing their own screencasting (especially during review days) and putting their problems/solutions on line.

How to frame on your google site: Create a new page, choose where it goes, go to insert gadget, more gadgets, type in iframe, Iframe gadget, select, choose size, type in the url and save.

Questions I have: If students use showme, how do they link to my site? What are some other ideas of using framing within my google site?

My Google Site

So I did create my own Google site this summer and it is, for lack of a better word, functional. Here's the link: https://sites.google.com/site/davedeggeller/

I have used some basic functions to post my smartboard lessons and homework sheets. I've added a few photos and external links. I used a googleform to gather information from students at the beginning of school.

I'm anxious to find ways to spruce up the site both aesthetically and functionally. If anyone needs help setting up a basic page I would be happy to help, just come find me in the math department.
